Effective Safety And Health Committee

Introduction

Establishing a safety and health committee is a legal requirement for any workplace in Malaysia with 40 or more workers. [Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 Section 30 (1)(a)] In OSH (Safety and Health Committee) Regulations 1996 regulation 29, the requirements for the safety and health committee training are regulated. The committee shall assist in providing the employer with information on how to improve the functioning of the safety and health issues to ensure the protection of workers’ health, safety and wellbeing.

Effective management of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) can reap benefits for an organisation in terms of reduced accident risk and employee absence through injury or illness, higher productivity as well as ensuring compliance with legislation. This programme is designed for Safety and Health committee members to provide a comprehensive coverage of all key aspects of the OSH Management System. Emphasis will be given to the practical aspects of being an effective Safety and Health Committee Member.
