Read, Review & Rewrite - Bahasa Melayu Workplace Workshop

Duration: 1 Day

Introduction

To further strengthen the use of Bahasa Melayu in workplace communication, it is recommended that the organisation implement a structured reinforcement series that goes beyond one-off awareness training and focuses on practical improvement, consistency, and direct workplace application. As staff across customer service, claims, administration, and operational functions regularly engage in written and verbal communication, there is value in reinforcing the use of clear, standard, and professional Bahasa Melayu in a more sustained and coaching-oriented format.

This initiative is proposed as a practical alternative to a traditional book club. Instead of requiring participants to independently complete a full reading programme, the session will use selected excerpts from Budak Bandar, a DBP-published fiction title, as a guided reading tool to build exposure to language use, sentence flow, vocabulary, expressions, and dialogue in a lighter and more engaging way. The selected reading will then be linked to facilitated discussion and practical rewriting exercises so that participants can transfer language awareness into formal workplace Bahasa Melayu. The title is manageable for excerpt-based learning at 189 pages and is suitable for use in a corporate setting.
