Be A Superstar, Own Your Day!
Duration: 2 Days
Introduction
In a fast-moving environment where every delay can affect a client, personal effectiveness is no longer a "nice to have"; it is a daily necessity. This isn't a lecture-style program filled with theory and slides you'll forget by Friday. It's a hands-on, experience-first journey built for real people doing real work; from senior executives to junior team members across Operations, Business Relations/Sales, Finance, HR, IT/TADT and Strategic Partnership.
Over two days, participants will stop hearing about good habits and start practicing them, using Planworth's own real scenarios, simple frameworks anyone can remember, and activities designed to feel less like "training" and more like a team figuring things out together. We tackle the things that quietly slow every organization down: scattered priorities, procrastination dressed up as "being busy," mistakes that keep repeating no matter how many times someone is told to fix them, and a self-driven spark that either gets nurtured; or dies at "not my job."
By the end of Day 2, participants won't just understand the tools; they'll walk out with something physical on their desks reminding them daily, a personal commitment they made in front of their peers, and a genuine sense that this is their company to shape, not just a place they clock into.
Learning Outcomes
After attending this program, learners will be able to do the following:
- Use the Eisenhower Matrix to prioritize daily tasks, cut down firefighting, and focus on what truly drives their KPIs and departmental KRAs
- Apply the 5 Whys to dig past symptoms and find the real root causes behind recurring problems and catch their own procrastination excuses before they become patterns
- Climb The Initiative Ladder – moving from waiting to be told, to acting with curiosity and confidence, without needing to be micromanaged
- Break the cycle of repeated mistakes by understanding why "being told" doesn't create lasting change, and what does
- Recognize where they sit on the Accountability Ladder, and connect their daily choices to a genuine sense of ownership; "if this were my company, what would I do differently?"
- Leave with a personal action plan and a physical daily reminder (desk poster/notes) so the learning doesn't fade after Day 2; it sticks, literally.
Key Content
Module 1 – Ownership, Accountability & Breaking Repeated Mistakes
- Recognizing common "victim" phrases and how they show up in daily work
- Reframing responses into ownership statements that focus on solutions, not blame.
- "If This Were Your Company" activity; participants debate how their decisions would change if the business were personally theirs, connecting pay/reward to genuine emotional investment.
- Real-life role play: addressing a repeated mistake with a colleague using ownership language instead of repeated instruction.
- Breaking the "told-but-repeated" cycle: building self-correcting habits instead of waiting for external reminders.
Module 2 - Curiosity-Driven Initiative
- Introducing the 5 Levels of the Initiative Ladder with real Planworth examples at each level.
- "Curiosity questions" that trigger initiative: What else could I check? What would happen if I acted now instead of waiting? What would a Level 5 person do here?
- Role play: "Move Up the Ladder"; teams act out the same scenario at different initiative levels and discuss the impact on clients and colleagues.
- Personal reflection: identifying one recurring
Module 3 – Personal Effectiveness & Prioritisation
- Understanding the difference between urgent and important work
- Using the Eisenhower Matrix to plan and review daily tasks across departments.
- Choosing one important "non-urgent" activity to protect each day (planning, relationship-building, process improvement).
- Group activity: mapping real Planworth emails/requests onto the matrix and defending priority calls to peers.
Module 4 – Critical Thinking, Problem Prevention & Procrastination
- Framing clear problem statements that different departments can relate to
- Applying the 5 Whys step-by-step to real issues (delayed approvals, incomplete files).
- Distinguishing a genuine reason for delay from a self-protective excuse.
- Role play: catching procrastination language in the moment and reframing it into action.
- Identifying small, high-impact fixes (checklists, standard steps, shared expectations) to prevent recurrence.
Module 5 - Making It Stick: Sustaining The Change
- Writing personal S.M.A.R.T. commitments linked to prioritisation (Eisenhower Matrix), root-cause thinking (5 Whys), and initiative (Initiative Ladder).
- Setting up simple buddy or team check-ins for ongoing follow-through postworkshop.
- Capstone team activity: applying all four models together to one real Planworth case and presenting the fix to the group.
- Designing and printing a personal desk poster/note: a simple visual cue (e.g., the Initiative Ladder or a one-line ownership statement) participants stick on their partition as a daily nudge.
